ABSTRACT :
Metabolic dysfunctions are a growing global health concern, with nutritional stress emerging as a key contributor to metabolic disorders. Malnutrition-associated diabetes, recently recognized as Type 5 diabetes (T5D), involves pancreatic β-cell dysfunction driven by chronic nutritional imbalance. This editorial discusses the links between nutritional stress, oxidative stress, and metabolic dysregulation, while highlighting the potential role of bioactive compounds as modulators of these pathways.
