ABSTRACT :
Aging is a natural process associated with biological and psychological changes, and the way it is perceived can influence attitudes and behaviors. The aim of the study was to assess perceptions, knowledge, and behaviors regarding aging, anti-aging practices, and the difference between chronological and subjective age among adults in Romania. A cross-sectional study was conducted from April to November 2025 on a sample of 114 adults recruited through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a 14-item questionnaire. Most participants (73.70%) considered aging to be a normal and physiological process, and 80.70% perceived wrinkles as normal and natural. Diet (47.40%), physical activity (45.60%), anti-aging cosmetics (42.10%), and SPF products (39.50%) represented the self-care behaviors. Websites with information provided by specialists (50.00%) and scientific articles or specialized books (42.10%) were important sources of information. Regarding subjective age, 71.05% of respondents perceived themselves as younger than their chronological age, and 64.91% stated that they are frequently considered younger by those around them. The results suggest a predominantly positive perception of aging and a frequent discrepancy between chronological and subjective age; however, the characteristics of the sample limit the generalizability of the conclusions.
