ABSTRACT :

The interdisciplinary approach to human pathologies, which is becoming more common in today’s society, has opened up new research avenues with high potential for improving understanding, prevention, and treatment of type 2 diabetes. Thus, the role of glucose-sensitive neurons and hypothalamus in the glucoregulatory process are being thoroughly investigated. At the same time, plant extracts from Dahlia sp. have shown promising results in the treatment of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. Our short review presents some of the most valuable specialized works that analyze the role of the hypothalamus in the glucoregulatory process, but also the therapeutic potential of the biologically active compounds from Dahlia sp.
