ABSTRACT :
Psychiatric comorbidities are common in cancer patients and can have a significant impact on their survival. This study examines the relationship between the biological mechanisms of cancer and the biological mechanisms of mental disorders, with a focus on understanding the common mechanisms and how they may influence the predisposition to death in cases with mental comorbidities. The lower survival rate of cancer patients with mental comorbidities is directly influenced by reduced adherence to treatment, compromised immune response and diminished quality of life. The present study highlights the need for an integrated approach that includes the assessment and treatment of psychiatric comorbidities in order to improve clinical outcomes and the survival of cancer patients.
